Frequently Asked Questions
Pricing and Packages
How much does board-and-train cost?
Pricing depends on the program length and your dog's needs. Potty Training is $1,500, 10-Day Board & Train is $2,000, Positive Only is $2,200, 2-Week Board & Train is $2,900, and our 3-Week programs (Reactivity or Advanced) are $3,900. Additional weeks are $1,000 each.
What is included in the price?
Every package includes daily training sessions, food and treats, full supervision, socialization with our pack dogs Koda and Enzo, a detailed go-home report, and a follow-up session to transfer skills to the owner. Your dog stays in Chantel's home — not a kennel.
Do you offer payment plans?
Please contact us to discuss payment options. We want to make training accessible and are happy to work with you on timing.
Is there a deposit required?
Yes, a deposit is required to reserve your dog's spot. The remaining balance is due on drop-off day. Details are confirmed during your consultation call.
The Process
How do I get started?
Start with a free phone or virtual consultation. Call (844) 966-4177 or fill out the contact form on our website. Chantel will ask about your dog's behavior, your goals, and recommend the right program.
What happens during the consultation?
Chantel will ask about your dog's history, daily routine, problem behaviors, and what you want to achieve. She will explain which program fits best and walk you through the entire process.
How long does each program last?
Programs range from 10 days to 3 weeks. If your dog needs additional time, extra weeks can be added at $1,000 per week.
What happens at the end of the program?
You receive a detailed go-home report covering everything your dog learned. Chantel conducts a hands-on transfer session at pickup (1.5-2 hours) so you know how to maintain the training at home.
Board-and-Train Details
Where does my dog stay?
Your dog stays in Chantel's home in Calimesa, CA. The environment is fully climate-controlled and comfortable. This is a real home, not a kennel or boarding facility.
Will my dog be in a crate all day?
No. Crates are used for rest periods and structure, but dogs spend the majority of their day in training sessions, supervised free time, and socialization. Crate training is part of the program, but your dog is not crated excessively.
Who else will be handling my dog?
Chantel personally handles all training. Your dog is not passed off to assistants or junior trainers. You are hiring Chantel, and Chantel does the work.
Can I visit my dog during training?
We generally discourage mid-program visits because they can interrupt the training process. Chantel provides regular photo and video updates so you can see your dog's progress.
What does a typical training day look like?
Dogs follow a structured daily routine that includes morning and afternoon training sessions, mealtimes, socialization with Koda and Enzo, supervised play and enrichment, and scheduled rest periods.
Reactivity and Behavior Issues
Can you help with reactive dogs?
Yes. The 3-Week Reactivity Program is specifically designed for dogs that react aggressively or fearfully toward other dogs, people, or environmental triggers. Chantel has extensive experience with reactive dogs.
What if my dog is aggressive?
Chantel evaluates every dog during the consultation. Many dogs labeled 'aggressive' are actually reactive or fearful. If your dog is a good candidate, Chantel will be honest about expectations. Safety is always the top priority.
Do you work with dogs that have separation anxiety?
Yes. Board-and-train is often very effective for separation anxiety because the dog learns to be calm and confident in a structured environment away from its owner.
Safety and Health
What vaccinations are required?
All dogs must be current on rabies, DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus), and bordetella. Flea and tick prevention must also be current. Proof of vaccination is required before drop-off.
What happens if my dog gets sick or injured?
Chantel monitors every dog closely. If your dog shows signs of illness or injury, you will be contacted immediately. In an emergency, your dog will be taken to the nearest veterinarian. Emergency veterinary costs are the owner's responsibility.
Is my dog safe around your pack dogs?
Yes. Koda and Enzo are trained, stable, and carefully managed. All introductions are done gradually and under full supervision.
Balanced vs. Positive-Only Training
What is the difference between balanced and positive-only training?
Positive-only training relies exclusively on rewards like treats, praise, and play. Balanced training uses those same rewards but also includes fair, well-timed corrections. Chantel offers both approaches — the Positive Only Board & Train ($2,200) is available for owners who prefer a reward-only method.
Why do you offer both options?
Because every dog and every owner is different. Some dogs respond beautifully to positive-only methods. Others need the added clarity that balanced training provides. Chantel will recommend the best approach, but the final decision is always yours.
